Thanks to some innovative energy solutions, and pioneering developers, the trend towards more sustainable living is no longer just the domain of homeowners in suburban and regional Australia. Renters and owners in some new residential apartments are also enjoying the benefits of smarter, greener living. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Origin’s work with developer Cedar Woods at the Jackson Green<\/a> apartments, in Melbourne’s South Eastern suburbs is an example of an eco-friendly approach to apartment living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to providing competitive energy plans for the residents of these two residential apartments, Origin has worked with Cedar Woods on some innovative solutions to help maximise the green credentials of the new complex. The most exciting of which is a Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle for communal use \u2013 complete with an EV charger in the car park.

We’ve helped subsidise the cost of providing this communal shared EV for the residents so they can enjoy the benefits of cleaner transport that EVs provide without the upfront cost of purchasing a vehicle. Residents can book the Tesla for just $15 an hour online via the Ohmie Go app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Developers are increasingly looking at EV chargers and managed EV solutions, as ways to provide convenient sustainable solutions to their residents. The apartments, which are due for completion in July 2021, also have a 40 KW Solar PV system installed to power common areas in the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is part of our broader commitment to support, and encourage, the uptake of EVs in Australia. Other projects also include an EV smart charging trial<\/a> we\u2019re undertaking with support from ARENA, and the launch Origin 360 EV Fleet<\/a> to help support business customers transition their fleet vehicles to EVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Origin\u2019s also represented on the board of the Electric Vehicle Council, and is a member of EV100 \u2013 a global initiative to accelerate the uptake of EVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just one example of how Origin, through our Centralised Energy Services<\/a> team, are helping lead the transition towards a smarter, cleaner and easier energy future for our customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
