{"id":13820,"date":"2020-08-07T11:04:26","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T01:04:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.originenergy.com.au\/?p=13820"},"modified":"2023-11-28T10:59:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T00:59:32","slug":"reimagining-the-future-of-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.originenergy.com.au\/blog\/reimagining-the-future-of-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Reimagining the future of&nbsp;energy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Origin\u2019s Group Manager, Future Energy,&nbsp;Brendan Manzie,&nbsp;leads a team focussed on&nbsp;providing customers with&nbsp;smarter&nbsp;and easier&nbsp;ways&nbsp;to&nbsp;manage&nbsp;their energy use, save money and reduce their carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re reimagining the future of energy for customers,&nbsp;exploring new products, new ideas and better ways of doing things,\u201d explains Brendan. \u201cIt\u2019s all about creating smarter ways for customers to take control of energy in their home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One recent trial with smart technology, <a href=\"https:\/\/au.sensibo.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sensibo&nbsp;Sky<\/a>, has been providing customers with the ability to monitor and control their air conditioner remotely through their mobile phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During times of peak electricity demand, trial participants were asked if they were okay for Origin to remotely adjust their air conditioner\u2019s temperature by two degrees for two hours in return for a credit on their account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn a hot day when lots of air conditioners are running, the energy grid is put under pressure which can impact network reliability.
