- During winter, dry your clothes in a heated room. This will keep you warm and your washing dry.
- Another tip for the laundry: keep it chill! Use cold water to wash your clothes – hot water systems need lots of power to heat.

- Communal meals a few times a week can help keep cooking and food costs down in a share house. It’s a great excuse to get together and will save you from cooking every night.

- A family that grows together, grows together. Minimise your impact as house by starting a veggie garden. Getting your hands dirty is fun and this can be really rewarding as well as save on your shopping bills.
Heating a home with the bare necessities
Heating and cooling can be a drainer on the bills, so let’s bring it back to the basics:
- Netflix and chill/warm up. Heat and cool communal areas, like the loungeroom, rather than all using a different heater or fan in your individual bedrooms. A great excuse to binge watch your faves!
- Get cosy! In winter, use blankets, heat packs, wheat bags, and hot water bottles instead of running the heating all the time.
- Set the aircon to 24°C in the summer time. Did you know that each degree under 24°C uses 5% more energy?
