Moving home often means more than just a change of address, and scenery. Chances are, your new place is going to be different from the old one, even when it comes to everyday things, like connecting your internet to the nbn® network. We’ve teamed up with nbn to pull together a handy checklist you can lean on ahead of your big move, so you’re connected the moment you’re in your new place.

Four weeks out from your move

Check if your new address has access

Use the nbn address tool to check whether your new property can connect to the nbn network.

Compare internet plans

Compare internet plans, check if there are any perks that come with your plan and contact your preferred internet provider to set up your new internet plan, organise your connection to the nbn network and arrange for any nbn equipment to be installed (if needed) at your new property.

Let your internet provider know you’re moving

Contact your internet provider and let them know you’re moving out and when you’ll need to close the internet account at your current address. If you’re staying with your current provider, they may also be able to arrange the connection at your new address – saving you the hassle of extra life admin.

Moving day

Leave any nbn supplied equipment at your old address. This equipment is registered to the specific address, so chances are it’s not going to work in your new home. And who wants to lug unnecessary items on moving day anyway?

If you do take the equipment with you, you might also make it harder for the new owner, or tenants, to connect to the property you’re moving out of – and we all know how hard moving is without the added stress of internet issues. It’s also important to note that you can’t re-sell the equipment as it is property of the nbn.

If you have your own modem, you can bring that with you, but you’ll need to check whether it’s compatible with the nbn connection type at your new place. Some internet service providers lock their modems to their network which can make it difficult to connect to the internet. While some modems aren’t locked, they may have difficulty performing properly on another network. It’s always important to do a device check so that you have the right modem and/or router that’s compatible with your nbn connection type.

Once you’re in the new place

Make sure you’re online

Check that your nbn connection is working and you’re able to connect to the internet. If you’re experiencing any issues with your connection, reach out to the provider so they can troubleshoot.

When you’re settled

Got the need for speed?

Check whether you’re on the right plan for your household’s needs. It’s no secret that we all use the internet a little bit differently. Whether you’re gaming, streaming or have multiple devices running at once, you may notice that once you’ve settled in, you need to change up the speed of your plan. If you find you need more speed in your new place, reach out to your provider and see what internet plans and offers they have available to you.

Origin internet is loaded with good

You can be confident choosing Origin as your internet provider, thanks to our award-winning network. Not only are our plans loaded with perks, like bonus Everyday Rewards Points and 12 months of Paramount+ included, there’s also our Origin nbn connection promise*.

What’s happening to Origin Internet prices? https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/whats-happening-to-origin-internet/ Tue, 04 Jun 2024 02:37:09 +0000 https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/?p=20547 Recently there have been changes to the rules that govern Australia's largest broadband network, the NBN®. Here's what it means for you and your internet bill.

The post What’s happening to Origin Internet prices? appeared first on The Origin Blog.

]]>
Recently there have been changes to our prices that reflect an increase to the wholesale costs Origin pays to provide your internet access, alongside increased operational costs. We break down what this means for you and your internet bill.

Why are internet prices changing?

The wholesale prices that Origin pays, to get access to the NBN and Opticomm networks for our customers, are increasing. We’re also facing increased operational costs. We’ve decided to adjust our pricing in response to those changes.

Our new plans will come into effect from 2 July 2024 for new customers — and existing customers who are relocating addresses or upgrading to a Fibre connection. Existing customers can expect to be notified in June if there are any changes to their monthly plan costs, with changes taking effect in July. Your connection itself won’t change, and you won’t need to do anything. You can still expect great value internet plans and the same great Origin customer service.

Why do wholesale prices change?

In October 2023, the ACCC accepted variations to NBN’s Special Access Undertaking (SAU), changing the rules that govern how Australia’s largest broadband network will operate – and setting a pricing benchmark for both the NBN and other industry network operators, like Opticomm. This is likely to influence wholesale prices on an annual basis.

The SAU reflects the NBN’s commitment to growing broadband infrastructure nationally, making faster speeds available to more Australians.  In a time where more of us rely on the internet for work, study and entertainment, it’s important to ensure high-speed, and unlimited, internet plans are affordable and accessible for everyone

Can I change my internet plan?

Yes! You can review, or change, your internet plan at any time, simply log in via My Account or the Origin App. Updated pricing will be visible on 1 July for existing customers.

What is a good internet speed for gaming? https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/high-speed-internet-for-serious-gamers/ Wed, 11 Oct 2023 03:42:06 +0000 https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/?p=17956 If you're a serious gamer, high-speed internet is a big deal when looking for an internet provider. We break down exactly what you should look for in an internet plan.

The post What is a good internet speed for gaming? appeared first on The Origin Blog.

]]>
If you enjoy gaming, then high-speed internet will be a big factor when you’re looking for an internet provider. But what’s the right internet speed to make sure you get the ultimate gaming experience?

High-speed broadband helps prevent lag

There’s nothing worse than lag affecting your online gaming experience because you’ve dropped out of a server. Poor internet speeds may be costing you, or your team, the win because of lag. The best way to prevent it? To have an internet plan with fast speeds.

Sure, you may be experiencing some performance issues due to poor infrastructure rather than your provider. But as a general rule, getting the right internet plan gives you the best chance when it comes to internet reliability.

Recommended gaming internet speeds

A good internet speed for gaming comes down to what kind of gaming you’re doing. If you’re into competitive gaming such as Fortnite, League of Legends, WoW or Rocket League, you’ll likely want both a high download and upload speed. When looking at broadband plans, look at the speed during a typical evening or how fast your internet speed is likely to be during busy periods. Higher typical evening speeds mean there’s less chance your speed will dip to low performance levels in the evening.

An internet speed of above 20 Mbps is usually ideal for gaming – especially multiplayer gaming. A drop below 20 Mbps may cause you to experience lag, which could prevent you from taking out the competition. When you choose one of our Enthusiast plans, you can expect typical download speed of 99 Mbps between 7-11pm meaning you should get great performance all night.

How multiple devices affect internet speed

Bandwidth is a measure of how much data can be transmitted over your network at a given time. When you have multiple devices in your household using the internet at the same time, it can slow down your internet and affect your gaming experience. Choosing a plan with a higher internet speed gives you the ability to transmit more data so that it’s less likely that you will suffer problems whilst gaming.

Our handy guide can help you understand what else may be slowing down your internet.

Origin internet plans for gamers

Not to be dramatic, but if you’re a serious gamer, a slow internet connection could ruin your day. If you want a hassle-free gaming experience our faster plans are the perfect plans for enthusiastic gamers just like you.

Our plans that are optimal for gaming are:

Enthusiast 100

This plan offers a typical download speed of 99 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 20 Mbps. It’s designed for streaming 4K video, having multiple people streaming or gaming at once, or downloading large files.

Enthusiast 100+**

Our Enthusiast 100+ plan offers higher upload speed than the Enthusiast 100. The plan offers a typical download speed of 99 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 40 Mbps. It’s a great option for gamers live streaming on Twitch or content creators who are looking to upload videos to YouTube.

Superfast 250

Our new Super Fast 250 internet plan is best for large downloads. The plan offers a typical download speed of 248 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 25 Mbps. Have the confidence to have multiple people stream 4K video, download huge files and large game updates. This plan’s only available for FTTP locations and some HFC addresses.

Ultra Fast 1000

Our Ultra Fast 1000 is a new broadband plan that provides ultra-fast internet for multiple users all at the same time. It offers a typical download speed of 600 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 50 Mbps. This plan provides well above the needs of most households, so it’s recommended for heavy internet users who have a strong reliance on fast internet speed. This plan’s only available for FTTP locations and some HFC addresses.

With our plans, you can spend less time worrying about your internet speed and more time working out how your guild’s going to take out the next boss in your raid. Our month-to-month broadband plans offer unlimited data with no lock-in contracts, should you ever need to switch up your plan. You can find more info in our fact sheets.

Choosing the right internet plan for you

It’s no secret that we all use the internet a little differently. That’s exactly why we’ve created packages based on user habits. This means you’re not paying for extras you don’t need – giving you value for money – and helps to make sure you find the right fit for you! Each of the below plans, aside from our Fixed Wireless offer, are available for both nbn™ and Opticomm fibre.

What plans are available with Origin?

Everyday 25

The Everyday 25 is ideal for 2 people in a household. The plan offers a typical download speed of 25 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 10 Mbps. Providing quality, high speed internet for watching movies and TV online, streaming music and browsing the internet.

Experience 50

Our Experience 50 has been designed to allow multiple users to game at the same time, download movies in HD and stream music. The plan offers a typical download speed of 50 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 20 Mbps.

Enthusiast 100

Our Enthusiast 100 plan is the perfect plan for enthusiastic gamers. The plan offers a typical download speed of 99 Mbps between 7-11pm and an upload speed of 20 Mbps. It’s designed for streaming 4K video, having multiple people streaming or gaming at once, or downloading large files.

Enthusiast 100+

Our Enthusiast 100+ plan offers higher upload speed than the Enthusiast 100. The plan offers a typical download speed of 99 Mbps between 7-11pm and a upload speed of 40 Mbps. It’s a great option for gamers live streaming games on Twitch or content creators who are looking to upload videos to YouTube.

Super fast 250

Fixed Wireless Experience 75 nbn™

Our new Fixed Wireless plan provides maximum possible speeds and can support multiple users for streaming music, movies, gaming, and downloading so you’re getting amazing value. Please note that your internet speed will be determined when your connection’s been established as every address has different circumstances.

Our address tool can help narrow down which plans are available at your address.

What’s the right speed for streaming?

If you stream sport, tv shows or download movies chances are you’re using a whole lot of data. Netflix recommends having a connection speed of at least 5 Mbps to stream their movies and TV shows in HD and 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD. While these are the minimum required speeds, it’s recommended to get a plan with much higher speeds to accommodate multiple devices at once. If everyone in the house is streaming, gaming and everything in between, you’re going to need more Mbps to keep everyone connected at the same time.

Managing multiple devices in your home

When you’re using multiple devices to stream on the same network, this can cause overcrowding as each device is competing to connect to the same router. This will cause your video or movie to be low quality, or they’ll constantly buffer while streaming. That’s why it’s important to have adequate bandwidth and internet speeds for your household.

Choosing which plan suits your needs will depend heavily on how many people will be using the internet in your home. For example, our Experience nbn™ 50 plan is great for families and households with 2 or more people streaming movies, music and gaming at the same time. However, if you’ve got more people in your household a plan that offers higher Mbps speeds may be more suitable for you.

Are you eligible for a $0 fibre upgrade?

Say hello to faster speeds and more capacity at no cost to you! The nbn™ is rolling out a program to help connect more Aussie homes to fibre technology. In a nutshell, this means replacing your existing technology with faster fibre. If you have a current eligible connection type with either Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC), and you’re on a higher speed plan, you’ll have the chance to upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) for your home internet.

Offer available to eligible FTTC and FTTN customers on higher speed plans in eligible areas only. T&Cs apply.

7 reasons why your internet is slow https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/7-things-that-can-slow-your-internet-speed/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 05:43:25 +0000 https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/?p=17873 Dealing with slow internet? We've pulled together a guide on the 7 major things that can affect your internet speed – and some tips for troubleshooting them.

The post 7 reasons why your internet is slow appeared first on The Origin Blog.

]]>
Many Australian households now have multiple web-enabled devices, which means internet speeds have never been more important. If you’re stuck with slow internet at home, or want to make sure your connection will be working after moving house, there are a number of things to keep in mind.

If you find yourself wondering, “Why is my internet so slow? there can be a number of causes. Things like outdated hardware, distance from the router, or interference from neighbouring devices can all contribute to sluggish internet speeds. Improve your internet speed and enhance your online experience by troubleshooting these issues.

What internet speed do I need?

With many of us working from home more, as well as streaming shows and gaming in our downtime – internet speed is often a significant factor when searching for a provider and choosing a plan. Let’s take it back to basics. Why is internet speed important? Speed, or ‘bandwidth’, is expressed in Megabits per second, or Mbps. It determines how quickly data can be transmitted from the internet to your devices. To help work out what speed you might need at home, here’s the bandwidth some everyday tasks require:

 • Skype HD video call: 1.5Mbps
 • General web browsing: 3Mbps
 • High Definition (720p) video streaming: 5Mbps
 • 4K video streaming: 25Mbps

What NBN™ download speeds are available?

Plans on the National Broadband Network (nbn™) are available at download speeds of 12Mbps, 25Mbps, 50Mbps, 100Mbps, 250Mbps* and 1000Mbps*. If you have multiple people using your connection simultaneously, engaging in bandwidth-intensive activities, such as streaming, gaming or video conferencing, you’ll need a plan with higher bandwidth to accommodate everyone’s needs. So, it’s important to choose a plan that suits your needs and the size of your household.

By understanding your household’s internet usage patterns and the speed needed for different activities, you can select a plan that provides sufficient bandwidth for smooth and uninterrupted online experiences. Additionally, remember that factors like the number of connected devices and the type of online activities performed can influence internet speed.

If you’re an avid online gamer, and love to stream, you might need a plan with higher speeds.

Why is my internet speed so slow?

We’ve pulled together seven significant things that might be contributing to the slow speeds at your place – plus some tips on how to troubleshoot them.

1. Connection type

Let’s take it right back. Your internet speed depends largely on the type of connection you have. In Australia, there are seven types of nbn™ connection types available:

 • Fibre to the node – FTTN
 • Fibre to the curb – FTTC
 • Fibre to the building/basement – FTTB
 • Fibre to the premise – FTTP
 • Hybrid Fibre-coaxial – HFC
 • Fixed Wireless
 • Satellite

There are lots of different technologies used and that means different speeds. If you’re not sure what kind of nbn™ connection you have at your place, check out the nbn™ address search to find out.

If the nbn™ hasn’t rolled out in your area yet, there may be other alternative connection types available to you such as Opticomm (Fibre, VDSL, HFC).

2. Your plan

The speed of plan you choose from your internet service provider is the single most important factor affecting overall internet speed. Remember, when choosing an Origin nbn™ plan, you have the choice of plans capable of achieving speeds from 25Mbps through to 1000Mbps*. Choosing a plan that suits your needs and household size is crucial for optimal internet speed. Origin Internet offers fast, reliable internet and, for added peace of mind, there’s also our Origin next day promise.

3. Your equipment

The speed of your modem/router plays a significant role in achieving faster internet speeds. Ensure your modem/router is capable of achieving the desired speed. Most devices support either 2.4GHz for broader coverage or 5GHz for higher speed coverage over a shorter distance.

4. WiFi issues

Is your router slowing you down? While the convenience of Wi-Fi has seen its popularity grow over the last 15 years, wired connections – when your computer is connected to your modem with a physical cable – generally remain faster. If you’re connecting to the internet using Wi-Fi, here are some reasons why you might be experiencing speed issues:

 • Router Location: Router location is an important choice that makes a big difference. Things to consider are the distance from your devices, the router’s height from the ground, and its proximity to dense materials like concrete and metal that can block Wi-Fi signals. For best results we recommend putting your router in the location where internet is used most frequently, above ground level, and away from walls or obstructions.
 • Interference: Even though Wi-Fi is usually on a different frequency than most devices in your home, there’s still potential for those devices to cause interference, resulting in slower speeds. Some devices that might cause interference include microwaves, Bluetooth devices and even Christmas lights. You can track down the culprit by switching devices off to see if they affect your internet performance.
 • Neighbours: Similarly, areas with a large amount of Wi-Fi networks, such as an apartment building, may suffer from poor signal strength because of conflicting frequencies. Wi-Fi routers have several channels that can transmit at different frequencies – if you’ve got a slow connection caused by a neighbour’s router using the same channel, changing your router to another frequency can help. To do this, you’ll need to connect to the router’s admin tool from your computer – your router’s instruction manual will have instructions on how to do this.

5. Copper telephone lines

A weak point of an nbn™ connection is when there’s copper cable involved. As a signal travels through copper cable it weakens, so in general, the longer this distance, the more your connection speed drops. Copper cable issues generally affect FTTC, FTTB and FTTN connections more commonly. Currently FTTP and some HFC connections can support higher speeds than those with copper.

6. Multiple devices

When using multiple devices via wifi this will impact the speed you get at each device. This will be split out across the number of devices that are in use. Say for example you have a 25Mbps plan, and there are 5 devices using wifi in your household, this means that effectively they’ll each only be able to achieve (roughly) a speed of 5Mbps per device. This is why selecting the right plan for your household is so important.

7. Network congestion

When everyone’s online at the same time, the internet can sometimes struggle to keep up with the demand. Modern networks are designed to handle a high volume of connections, but you might still experience reduced speed during peak hours of internet usage – we’re looking at you, Netflix-loving neighbours!

Network congestion’s generally most common in the evening when more people in your area are at home and online. It’s the same issue closer to home in large households when multiple people are using different devices on the one internet connection.

However, improvements to our internet infrastructure is helping reduce this issue. According to data published by nbn™ Co, the average fixed-line nbn™ subscriber’s now experiencing, on average, 13 minutes of bandwidth congestion per week, down from a sizeable 30 minutes in November 2020. Network congestion is defined as when 95% or more of available bandwidth is being used.

Here at Origin Internet, we know that slow evening speeds are no good. Once we see that an area’s reaching capacity we stop selling until we can increase it.

Are you eligible for a $0 fibre upgrade?

Say hello to faster speeds and more capacity at no cost to you! The nbn™ is rolling out a program to help connect more Aussie homes to fibre technology. In a nutshell, this means replacing your existing technology with faster fibre. Moving house is a mammoth task as is, but if you’re renting, you’ll also need to remember to organise your internet along with your other utilities ahead of moving into your new place. With so many of us now working from home, and Netflix binges becoming second nature on weekends, a working internet connection as soon as you move-in is now a necessity.

Our handy guide will help step you through the process of setting up the internet at your new digs.

Choosing an internet plan for your rental

The first step is to choose which Origin internet plan is right for you. You can choose from a variety of speeds to suit the way you use the world wide web. When setting up your internet connection for your rental, you’ll need all the necessary hardware, including a modem. The modem type you’ll need will depend on whether you’re connecting to the nbn™ or Opticomm fibre. Setting up your modem can feel overwhelming if you’re not especially tech savvy, but don’t sweat it, our modem set up guide will help make it a breeze.

Connecting to the nbn™ as a renter

Good news, if the nbn™ connection is already installed at your property, and you’re renting, you won’t need landlord approval to connect! You’ll just need to go through the process of selecting your provider. However, if this isn’t the case, as you don’t own the property, you’ll need consent from the owner to have an nbn™ connection installed. If you’re not in direct contact with your landlord, it’s recommended to get in touch with your property manager or real estate agent to get the go ahead for organising the installation.

While the majority of Australian addresses are now ready to connect to the nbn™, you’ll need to check your address to make sure it’s available. The nbn™ address search tool might be able to help you understand the type of connection your new home will have. Not familiar with all the connection types? We’ve got a guide for that! Our Internet Jargon 101 will arm you with the basics (and have you speaking the lingo in no time).

Bundle your utilities

Everyone loves to save some coin on their bills. If you’re looking to make the full switch to Origin, or you’re already an electricity, natural gas or hot water customer, you can bundle your internet and energy together and get $10 a month off your internet bill. Easy peasy.

Need for speed?

If you need to switch up your speed, or your plan, you can change your Origin internet plan to one that suits your needs at any time – there’s no fee. Keep in mind that if you’re upgrading your plan before the end of your monthly billing cycle, you’ll need to pay the difference between your current plan and the new plan.

We’ve got a range of internet plans available to suit whatever your household’s needs may be. Ready to make the switch to award-winning internet?

From energy plans to a multi award-winning internet provider https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/award-winning-internet/ Wed, 24 May 2023 01:10:37 +0000 https://www.originenergy.com.au/blog/?p=19111 Thinking about switching internet providers? Find out why we've got the most satisfied customers in Australia according to Canstar Blue.

We’re thrilled to have taken out the top spot in ‘Bundles Utilities’ category at the 2023 Canstar Blue awards for our nbn® and Fibre internet plans. If you’re thinking about changing internet providers, find out why we’ve got the most satisfied customers in Australia.

We picked up the 2023 Award for Customer Satisfaction – yet another great accolade after winning the ‘Most Satisfied Customers – nbn® provider’ in 2022. We’ve gone from zero to having the most satisfied customers in Australia.

Energy and internet – an award-winning combo

We received top marks in Canstar Blue’s ‘Bundled Utilities’ in the energy and internet category. We won the overall category for Customer Satisfaction receiving five-star ratings for value for money, customer service, ease of sign-up and set up, and bill cost and clarity*.

To find the provider with the most satisfied customers, Canstar Blue surveyed over 400 bill-paying customers around Australia – asking questions about their overall satisfaction with their bundled telco and energy suppliers.

We came out on top – with customers echoing the benefits of bundling their energy services with internet.

How was this judged?

Overall satisfaction: measured consumer satisfaction with a bundled utilities provider as an individual score, not a combined total of all criteria.

Value for money: cost was low for the quality and performance of the plan or service.

Customer service: the bundled utilities provider had multiple service points for customers, e.g. telephone, email, online chat.

Ease of sign-up: the bundled utilities provider had a simple sign-up process.

Plan flexibility: the bundled utilities provider offered the option to customise your plan, or switch between plans as needed.

Network coverage and reliability: the bundled utilities provider offered strong network coverage with a consistent performance and speed.

Online tools and advice: the bundled utilities provider had an app or online account to monitor energy or telco usage, pay bills and manage account information.

Bill and cost clarity: the bundled utilities provider had an easy-to-understand bill.

Bundle and save

With the cost of living on the rise, interest rate hikes and other financial pressures hitting Aussie households, more customers are discovering the benefits of bundling. Combining an energy plan with internet makes sense as it helps streamline the number of providers you have to deal with – giving customers the chance to pocket some extra savings each month.

Origin Internet – going from strength to strength

We first launched our internet product in March 2018, going to market with nbn® and Fibre internet products. Today, our customers enjoy a range of Fast, Super fast and Ultra fast internet products.

We know our customers are looking for more convenience, and we’re all looking for ways to save at home. Bundling your utilities and internet can help you do just that.

Bundling internet with our eligible energy plans helps save customers $10 per month on their internet bill. Over 12 months, that’s savings to the tune of $120.

Beyond savings, we’re also improving our customer experience and revolutionising customer services. We offer customers the opportunity to pay their modems over time, over six payments – making household budgeting that little bit easier.

Sometimes when scrolling through internet plans the ‘jargon’ can be a bit overwhelming. So, if you’re not quite up to speed with all the tech terms, don’t worry – we’ve got you. The following are the most common terms you’ll come across when browsing internet plans, including the different types of connections.

Different types of internet connections

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

FTTP is one of the types of internet connection available where fibre-optic cables are run directly onto your premises, providing some of the fastest speeds in the country.

Fibre to the Building (FTTB)

FTTB connection is generally used when we are connecting an apartment block or similar types of buildings. In these cases, the fibre-optic cables go to a point where the node connects all the apartments to the nbn™ network. The fibre node is typically a secure cabinet in your building’s communications room.

Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

An FTTN connection is used where the existing copper phone and internet network between your home and street’s fibre node is used to make the final part of the connection for your nbn™ access. The fibre node generally takes the form of a street cabinet.

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection is used in circumstances where the existing ‘pay TV’ or cable network can be used to make the final part of the nbn™ network connection. In this circumstance, an HFC line will be run from the nearest available fibre node to your premises.

Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)

FTTC is an internet connection type used in circumstances where the optical fibre is extended to the curb on your street, connecting to a small Distribution Point Unit. From here, the existing copper network connected to your home will link the last part of your nbn™ connection.

Fixed Wireless (FW)

An nbn™ Fixed Wireless connection uses data transmitted over radio signals to connect your home to the nbn™ network. This type of connection is typically used where there is distance between premises such as in rural areas. Your data will travel from a transmission tower located as far as 14 kilometres, to an outdoor antenna that has been fitted to your home.

Other internet connection terms and definitions

Downloads

A download is data that’s been copied from the internet, including files such as videos, music, games and more. Understanding your type of internet connection is crucial in determining the speed and efficiency of your downloads.

Uploads

An upload is data that has been transferred from one computer to a larger system, such as a cloud server. A reliable and fast internet connection is essential for smooth and efficient uploads. Upload speed impacts your abilty to conduct video calls and conferencing, so if you are working from home, having a quality upload speed will be important.

Mbps

This means Megabit per second which is the measurement for the speed of downloads and uploads. Keep in mind your broadband connection is dependent on where you live. The speed of your internet connection depends on the material of the wiring to your home.
